Tango Gameworks Revitalized: Krafton Acquires the Studio, Promises New Hi-Fi Rush Sequel

The gaming world has recently witnessed a positive turn of events with Tango Gameworks being revived under the wing of Krafton, the publisher behind PUBG Battlegrounds. This studio, known for its work on titles such as The Evil Within series, Ghostwire Tokyo, and the acclaimed Hi-Fi Rush, appears to have successfully navigated the threat of closure. Krafton Inc. has made it official with an announcement confirming the acquisition of Tango Gameworks.

According to an announcement from Krafton, the acquisition paves the way for Tango Gameworks to proceed with a sequel to Hi-Fi Rush. The press release highlights that as part of this strategic agreement, there will be collaboration between Krafton, Xbox, and ZeniMax aimed at ensuring a seamless integration for Tango Gameworks, allowing the creative team to persist in developing the Hi-Fi Rush franchise and delve into prospective new projects.

Krafton has also assured that the studio's current game lineup will remain unaffected during this transition. The existing catalog, including The Evil Within, The Evil Within 2, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and the first Hi-Fi Rush game, will continue to be available across all current platforms.

For context, Tango Gameworks, along with Arkane Austin, faced closure from Microsoft in May of this year, a decision attributed to a reevaluation of its game titles and allocation of resources. Fortunately, with the acquisition by Krafton, the mood on social media has been predominantly jubilant, reflecting a shared relief and excitement within the gaming community.

Creative director John Johanas from Tango Gameworks, who also directed Hi-Fi Rush, expressed this sentiment on social media, announcing the team's return with enthusiasm. Although the specific upcoming projects remain under wraps, there is strong speculation surrounding the continuation of Hi-Fi Rush, aligned with Krafton's vision for the franchise's growth. Fans can look forward to updates as Tango Gameworks embarks on this new chapter.
