Marathon Update: Fixing Microtransactions and Enhancing Gameplay Dynamics

An update has emerged concerning the recent release of Marathon, in which the initial microtransaction setup drew considerable criticism from the community. The situation involved the option to purchase Lux currency bundles, available in packs of 500 for about $5 or 1,100 Lux for $10. However, there was a notable issue: a cosmetic customization for the Runner character required a total of 1,120 Lux, meaning users had to combine a $10 bundle with a $5 bundle to cover the shortfall.

Following extensive feedback from players, the developers have announced an imminent adjustment. The planned fix will modify the $10 bundle to provide exactly the amount of Lux necessary for acquiring a skin, by adding an extra 20 Lux with each purchase. Additionally, there will be a reward mechanism that grants an extra 20 Lux to anyone who acquired a $10 bundle prior to this update. This corrective measure is set to be implemented in the first patch of the game, and additional updates are on the way.

The upcoming patch will introduce several gameplay enhancements, including:

  • Distance objective navigation points will be visible at twice the previous range of 20 meters.
  • A rise in the quantity of medical storage units and munitions crates on Perimeter.
  • The initial ammunition available in the MIDA, CyberAcme, and Arachne starting kits will be boosted.

These enhancements mark a series of improvements intended to refresh the overall player experience. What are your thoughts on these changes in Marathon?
