iPhone 15: Everything We Know (and Suppose) So Far

We’re still getting familiar with iPhone 14 which has recently hit the stores and now takes the position of the freshest Apple flagship smartphone. But it’s always exciting to know what Apple has in store for the next year. Though nothing has been officially said about iPhone 15, we already can make some assumption from knowing both Apple’s ways and the situation around it.

It’s safe to say that we’ll see it officially announced in September 2023 (though due to some force majeure it can be delayed to October). Though in theory it can be called iPhone 14S (or something), this is less likely. iPhone 14 has been a compromise, using the same CPU as iPhone 13, the differences rather being about the camera system and some extra features. Hardly Apple will come up with 14S, as this name suggests that the model is (again) a slightly upgraded predecessor.

Chances are Apple will build the new iPhones upon the new CPU, named A17 Bionic. Currently, the latest A16 is only used by iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. Reusing it will render the whole new generation 14S (which Apple will do its best to avoid). On the other hand, this may start the new approach, when only the Pro versions will receive the latest chipsets, making the difference within a generation more significant.

Another serious change is about the port. According to the newest legal trends, all the phone makers will be soon obliged to use standard USB-C ports, and there’ll be no exception for Apple. The Cupertino company already uses USB-C in MacBooks and iPads, so it would make sense to be consistent and ditch the good old Lightning in iPhones even before 2024 when the new requirements start to apply.

Of course, we will surely see upgraded cameras and new color versions. As for the price, it will again see an increase. While iPhone 14 will traditionally become a little cheaper after the announce, the prices for all the iPhone 15 versions will be slightly higher than those of iPhone 14 at its launch.

Given all this, do you feel the next iPhone will be a significant step ahead, or rather a cosmetical refreshment? What else do you expect from iPhone 15? Tell your ideas and thoughts to us in the comments!
