Fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 can breathe a sigh of relief as Larian Studios has rolled out Hotfix 15, addressing numerous bugs, including one causing dramatic facial distortions. Players encountered a terrifying visual glitch during cutscenes that grotesquely stretched character faces and made their eyeballs vanish, a glitch humorously dubbed by the developers as "the Pinocchio issue." Thanks to the new update, witnessing characters with elongated features and seemingly hollow eye sockets will be a thing of the past.
The hotfix brought much-needed stability improvements by resolving several crash scenarios. Players faced crashes while attempting to engage the Honor Mode or when transitioning between levels. Autosave-triggered crashes were also common as players moved onto new levels. Larian Studios has also rectified Xbox-specific crashes; one was linked to verifying ownership of the Deluxe Edition, and another occurred when an internet connection was lost as a player edited the name of a lobby.
In addition to addressing the visual bugs and game crashes, the update expanded language support. Japanese players can now enjoy a localized version on both the PC and the PlayStation 5. Larian also gave reassurance about their ongoing efforts to extend this language support to various other platforms, with a particular note that Xbox Series X|S versions will be covered in time to come. Mac users have not been left out, as the Korean language pack has now been activated for them as well.
The corrective patch also tackled a variety of other gameplay hiccups. Issues where companions found themselves unable to jump, abrupt conclusions to Gale's dialogues, and the inability to converse with NPCs at camp after using the Long Rest feature have all been smoothed over with the latest update. Those interested in exploring the breadth of what the patch addressed in finer detail should review the comprehensive patch notes released by the studio.
